Located adjacent to the Cal Mart, this building, occupied by young designers, required a space in which to present their seasonal shows. Working within the tight confines of converted mid-rise industrial space, dressing rooms and a runway ramp were designed to create a unique image of a leg emerging from below a dress with a petticoat of folded wood and frosted glass. Slate, wood, gold and silver leaf finishes were used to contrast with the raw concrete walls, columns, and ceilings of the space. Full lighting, video, and a sound system were included to make this installation a state-of-the-art facility within a limited construction budget.
