Fine
Arts Theater
Los
Angeles, California
This
abandoned neighborhood theater was completely rehabilitated to recreate
the 1940s Skouras splendor of polished and bright decorative sheet
metals including aluminum, brass, and mirrors. The new lobby,
concession space, ticket
booth, and expanded restrooms occupy the original retail spaces
which were incorporated as distinct spaces into the re-design with
new columned
openings off the recreated lobby.
Inside
the auditorium
restored and new lighting, new decorative curtains, restored fabric
walls, seating, and state-of-the-art projection and sound systems
were installed for use by the AMC theater chain and an Italian film
distribution company as a 450-seat fine art films premiere location. |
