Trattoria
Farfalla
Los
Angeles, California
A
complete renovation of this two-story Spanish Revival commercial
building transformed a 5,000 sq. ft. sports bar into a casual
upscale restaurant and bar seating for 150 people. A new entrance
and internal circulation pattern were designed to differentiate
the restaurant from all prior uses of the building. The design
concept of creating simple distinctive features for each dining/bar
area resulted in dividing the first floor into 3 spaces: the
water room (bar), fire room (oven/fireplace), sky room (skylight).
Also, the existing dome in the upstairs cabaret was exposed. Extensive
use of simple rustic materials (slate, concrete, granite) and
earthy colors complement the cuisine
and neighborhood trattoria environment. |
